Afghanistan Signs Aid Deals for Returnees, Displaced Families

(MENAFN) Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has signed three cooperation agreements with both domestic and international donors aimed at assisting returnees and internally displaced families, according to reports citing the ministry.

The agreements, valued at approximately 2.9 million US dollars, are expected to benefit 5,952 households and more than 82,000 individuals. Support will include vocational training programs, small business assistance, and emergency food distribution, according to the same reports.

The ministry also noted that a separate agreement was signed two weeks earlier with an international humanitarian organization to provide additional support for returning families.

Officials estimate that nearly three million Afghans have returned from abroad over the past year, mainly from neighboring Pakistan and Iran. In response, authorities have been distributing humanitarian assistance and allocating land as part of reintegration efforts, according to reports.

The initiatives come amid continued efforts to address large-scale displacement and economic challenges affecting returnee communities in the country.
